Buglasan 2016 will bring the City of Gentle People almost to a standstill as everybody is taking part to celebrate the Festival of Festivals.. The 2-week long celebration is stuffed with great events, exhibitions and contests.
In a festival full of great events, Buglasan King and Queen 2015 competition usually takes place on the busiest day. Friday night after the Buglasan Showdown and the Street Dance competition
One declared favorite of each years Buglasan celebration is the Ballroom & Folk Dance Competition. It is usually held as together on one evening and showcases the beauty, grace, tradition and talents of the young Negrense.
Dumaguete’s 66th Charter Day celebration and the Sandurot Festival 2014 is perfectly placed between Buglasan and Christmas. The event loaded 10 days celebration is held from November 16 to 25, 2014. The highlights being the Charter Day Parade and of course the Miss Dumaguete 2014 Pageant, where last year’s winner Lorraine Kendrickson became just recently the 1st princess of Miss World Philippines 2014.
The Sandurot Festival and 66th Charter Day celebration start very sportive with the Dumaguete Adventure Marathon and the Karatedo competition. The host of the Rap and Hip Hop Dance Competition at Freedom Park Buglasan was a great one. He didn’t waste so much time to start the show. Right after the prayer and national anthem the show started with the screaming audience..
The audience was so exited and couldn’t be controlled not to go near the stage, but the host that night was polite asking the people to keep off the stage.
Sidlakan Dance Company Concert and the Rondalla-, Kumparsa-, and Balak, Balitaw Competitions were a blast. It is great to see the Facebook generation honoring our tradition and performing. We had so much fun there and all performers did a wonderful job. Everybody who just waits for the Beauty competitions and Street-dance parades is missing out on the traditional heart and soul of the Buglasan festival.
The evening started off at 7:00pm with a 1 hour show of the Sidlakan Dance Company. Different Groups from Junior to seniors performed their traditional and modern dances and entertained the audience perfectly.
And of course there is no competition without awarding
Here the official Results of last nights competition provided by Negros Oriental Tourism
If one looks at the result, one may wonder who is the winner of the Junior Rondalla division. There was only ONE competitor, but they came in only on the SECOND place. “Only in the Philippines” is the only explanation one can find. Rumors have it that the young fellow in the picture below was so upset, that he took of his shoes to throw it at the judges, but then decided to give the judges his Kindergarten math book, so they can figure out that it is not possible to be second out of one competitor.
The Civic & Military Parade of Buglasan 2014 was under a burning sun on Saturday afternoon and it would not have been a problem to fry a sunny-side-up egg on the tarmac of the roads.. When all VIP, VUPs, LGUs and marching Bands finally arrived, it got on its way from Quezon Park to the Sidlakan Negros Village where the school marching band competition was held.
and some more from the Civic & Military Parade – Buglasan 2014
Thank you so much to all Buglasan 2014 Organizers, we also thank our Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism head Mrs. Myla Mae Bromo-Abellana for giving us the information and recognition about Buglasan 2014 events we covered.
The opening night of Buglasan 2014 lays behind us and it started with the coronation night of Miss Negros Oriental Tourism 2014. 13 lovely candidates from all over Negros Oriental competed for the crown. The event was scheduled at 8:00pm, which was more a suggestion than a fixed beginning. Even Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo waited over 30 minutes patiently in his plastic chair until the show finally started past 9:00pm. We used the delay to get backstage to catch some of the Miss Negros Oriental Tourism 2014 candidates to receive the finishing touches. Here some pictures:
The show started with the production number where the candidates showed plenty of skin, wrapped in a kind of candy-wrap colored “whatever that is called” bad design-accident.
Following an intermission number where the artist was more concerned about technical issues (nit the only technical probs this evening) the Miss Negros Oriental Tourism 2014 candidates entered the stage again in their gowns.
Congratulations to the new:
