Beach Resorts in Dumaguete
Let us be honest, Dumaguete has no nice beaches and there are no Beach Resorts in Dumaguete. The few existing patches of beach within the city limits could be best described as “natural beaches”. Silliman beach is one of those and often used for family BBQs or student outings and alike. Beach clean-ups are organized a few times a year but generally speaking the beaches in Dumaguete would not get any votes as a postcard motive.
However, just a few minutes north and south of the city are plenty of nice clean spots and plenty of beach resorts to choose from.

How to get to the Beach Resort in Dumaguete
When arriving via flight from Manila and Cebu one has different options to get to the Hotels and Beach Resorts in Dumaguete. Most of them offer a pick-up service, which is certainly the most convenient way to travel the 20 – 30 minutes from the airport in Sibulan to Dauin. If the resort does not have an own vehicle, they hire a professional service. Depending on the beach resort, the trip is either included in the booking, or is charged additional. The price depends on the distance and ranges between US$15 and US$ 40.
It is also no problem if the pick-up is not pre-arranged. Plenty of private operators are waiting in the greeting area of the Dumaguete airport to bring arrivals to their destinations. The prices can be seen on a poster across the exit of the arrival-hall at the airport.
However, when arriving the first time in Dumaguete, there is a good chance that one is missing this poster. Like anywhere in the world there are always some black-sheep around who try to overcharge for the transfer from the airport to a beach resort in Dumaguete.
Compared to many tourist destinations in the world, the transfer appears very cheap for foreign tourist, so they do not mind to pay 5 US-Dollar or Euros more after flying half way around the globe, but keep in mind that the operators also try the same with local tourists. For first-timers it is advisable to have the Hotel or the Beach Resort in Dumaguete arrange that trip.
