Santa Catalina – Negros Oriental

Pakol Festival 2019 Street Dancing and Showdown of Santa Catalina was held on April 24, 2019. Participated by eight performing groups composed of barangays and high school kids. It is a celebration that gives thanks to the town’s patron saint, Saint Catherine of Alexandria. It also celebrates the town’s famous product…pakol bananas.

Pakol is a type of banana found in the municipality of Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental. This is where the unique annual festival of the town got its name. It is a sweet banana with seeds inside…a monkey’s favorite meal.
