Just like in every other municipality or town here in the Philippines, fiesta celebrations are always considered as a fun and merry occasion for all to participate. Over the years fiestas have been a great tradition that has been celebrated for generations.
Aside from the feasting and merry making, fiesta celebrations are also held as thanksgiving to a town’s patron saint (San Nicolas de Tolentino), who is believed to protect the town and it’s people.
The town of Dauin can be found about 14 kilometers south of Dumaguete City.Their town fiesta is annually celebrated between the months of August and September. Dauin is known throughout Negros Oriental for being a scuba diving and snorkeling hub with their abundant marine sanctuaries and habitats.
This year, Dauin will be celebrating their fiesta from August 4 to September 10, 2017. Highlights of their event includes the Dauin Kalye Sayaw (Street Dancing) and Grand Parade followed by a live band.
