After the prayer, singing of the national anthem and the “palihi” or traditional ritual as thanksgiving, there we a few speeches and awarding made. After about an hour, the first group of performers finally started their dance.
For this year’s showdown and street dancing competition, only 6 festivals participated. The Kinaiyahan Festival of Dauin, the Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City (2 different categories – barangay and school), Sinulog Festival of Tanjay City, Tapasayaw Festival of Bais City, Pakol Festival of Santa Catalina, and the Yamog Festival of Pamplona.
