Buglasan Festival 2019
Street Dancing & Showdown | Negros Oriental | Festival of Festivals
The Buglasan Festival 2019 is the celebration of the Festival of Festivals in Negros Oriental that was celebrated on October 18, 2019. Being the biggest and grandest festival celebration in the province, the DC-Team made sure to get the best pictures of the street dancing and showdown. There were seven groups who performed in this year’s festival of festivals.
Buglasan Festival 2019 – Showdown
The grandest festival in Negros Oriental was held at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex. The showdown event was said to start at 8:00 am. The organizers did start the program a little bit later than 8:00 am (that’s pretty early or on time for Filipinos). However, the actual showdown did not start as early as everybody wants it to be. After the prayer, singing of the national anthem and the “palihi” or traditional ritual as thanksgiving, there we a few speeches and awarding made. After about an hour, the first group of performers finally started their dance.
For this year’s showdown and street dancing competition, only 6 festivals participated. The Kinaiyahan Festival of Dauin, the Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City (2 different categories – barangay and school), Sinulog Festival of Tanjay City, Tapasayaw Festival of Bais City, Pakol Festival of Santa Catalina, and the Yamog Festival of Pamplona.
Buglasan 2019 – Street Dancing
The street dancing of the Buglasan Festival started around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Hundreds of people watched at the side f the streets to witness the colorful parade of culture and traditions from all over Negros Oriental. Floats, arcs, and festive costumes flooded the streets of Dumaguete City as the street dancing parade took place.
After the street dancing parade, it was time to give the dancers some rest. The announcement was then announced during the Buglasan Festival King and Queen 2019 at the Freedom Park stage.
