Buglasan 2019 - Dancesport Competition - Negros Oriental

The Dancesport Competition or the Ballroom Dancing of Buglasan Festival 2019 was exciting! The Dancesport Competition in Latin Category was held right after the Folk Dance Competition on the Freedom Park Stage. It was very fast paced considering that there were three categories for the competition and 12 pairs of performers.

1…2..Cha-Cha-Cha

After the Folk Dance Competition, the Dancesport Competition started! This Latin Category has three major parts for the 12 pairs of dancers. They have to showcase their best moves in about 1 minutes in Cha-Cha, Rumba and Jive. The first division of the competition was the Cha-Cha. This is a dance that originated in Cuba.

RRRRR…Rumba!

After the Cha-Cha-Cha, it was time to move on to the Rumba. It is a genre of ballroom music and dance that appeared in the East Coast of the United States during the 1930s. It is known to be more emotional and slower.

Jive!!!

The last division for this year’s Dancesport is the Jive. Jive is the most energetic dance out of the three division. It is a lively and uninhibited variation of the Jitterbug, a form of Swing dance.
