Street Dancing Parade – Buglasan 2015

Buglasan Festival

The weather god was once again with Dumaguete and Negros Oriental during the Street Dancing Parade of the Buglasan Festival 2015. We think it was the biggest crowd since many years which cheered for the 9 contingents participating in the street-dancing competition. We do admit that we really don’t care who wins the competition as all participants just did a fantastic job. Everybody just did their best and the real winner were all the many thousands Negrense and guests from all over the Philippines and from around the globe along the streets of Dumaguete. Colorful costumes, great choreographies, good rhythm sections and limitless smiles were the ingredients for a Buglasan Street Dancing Parade which came nothing short of a huge success.

Tawo – Tawo Festival of Bayawan City

The contingent of the city in the south of Negros Oriental was the first contingent dancing their ways through the streets of Dumaguete City to open the Street Dancing Parade of the Buglasan Festival 2015.

Sinulog sa Tanjay

The contingent number two came from Tanjay City, representing the Sinulog sa Tanyay. Half of their street dancing performance the dancers had their tongue hanging out. We missed or did not get the reason for that, but they may do it just because they can and nobody else does that. Sinulog sa Tanjay caught certainly our attention.

Hudyaka Festival of Bais City

The aquatic life was the theme for the contingent of the City of Bais, representing the Hudyaka Festival. Most would have expected dolphins, but all were surprised when the most colorful squids, octopus and turtles danced their way through the streets of Dumaguete City.

Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City

Each dancer of this contingent knows the streets of Dumaguete City at least as good as they know the latest “Unli”-code from Globe and Smart. The contingent representing the Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete took advantage of having a “home game” and bagged the first price for the best street-dance performance at Buglasan 2015.

Hambabalud Festival of Jimalalud

Our favorite costumes were the from the little big town of Jimalalud. The bird representing the Hambabalud Festival just did it for us. We are looking forward to visit the municipality for their next fiesta to celebrate with them.

Langub Festival of Mabinay

Last but not least our good friends of the cave capital of the Philippines. The Langub Festival of Mabinay impressed with their floats not only us but also the judges. They bagged the first price for the best ID Arch and along the streets of the city was probably nobody who disagreed with that.
