A cheerful, fully packed Municipal Gym in Basay witnessed the search for Miss Basay 2015. Like almost with most beauty-contests the event was split into two evenings, the Talent and the coronation night. March 15 was the talent night where the 10 candidates showed their talents in different stage performances. Like common during this events, a lot of more or less well known people needed to be introduced on both nights and it took a while until the lovely candidates entered the stage. Therefore our first gallery is also about the more or less important people and others involved in the event.
After the Talent night the candidates had a rest day to prepare for the coronation night of Miss Basay 2015 beauty pageant. Everybody who witnessed the first part of the pageant was aware, that this will be a tough decision for the judges.
In the first round the contestants presented themselves in stunning festival costumes, which certainly didn’t make the decision easier for the judges.
The swim-wear round was kept rather short, which was probably to the liking of the protective fathers and jealous boyfriends of the candidates for Miss Basay 2015, but certainly a bit a disappointment for most men in the audience.
Following the invitation of Mabinay’s Tourism Officer Gary Caseres we went to the Cave Capital of the Philippines for the annual fiesta. The Miss Mabinay 2015 pageant was the event on the day of our arrival. Nine contestants were competing for the title at the municipality stage. The doors of the venue opened at 7:00pm, however, it was past 10:00pm when the event finally started with the prayers, national anthem and the production round.
Other than in political correct Dumaguete, the Miss Mabinay 2015 pageant was not afraid to have the lovely candidates wearing bikinis; certainly the most famous round of any beauty pageant in the world… at least with 50% of the world’s population.
The talent round followed almost immediately after some minor technical issues with the usual dancing, singing and interpretative acting.
Last, but most anticipated round showed the nine competing candidates for Miss Mabinay 2015 in their evening gowns. “White” was the theme at Miss Mabinay’s beauty pageant.
Once again we were guests at the NORSU Gym for a beauty pageant. This time 10 candidates competed for the Mr. & Ms CBA 2014 title. CBA stands for College of Business Administration. One aspect which makes these smaller contests very enjoyable is the audience. They are not just sitting and staring at the stage, they start cheering for their favourtites already an hour before the actual contest starts. One thing which is the same at each beauty pageants is the tension backstage before the competition starts.
A Tuesday evening can’t be spend much better than visiting a beauty contest. In this case, we went to Barangay “Uno” to witness the Miss Tinago 2014 Beauty Pageant . The Gym in the Barangay was packed when the contest Miss Tinago 2014 took off. Each of the seven contestants had their supporters in the audience cheering their lungs out. That certainly pushed them to give their very best on the catwalk.
The organizers allowed the DINS-Team to get a sneak-peak at the backstage area, so we are able to share some of the pictures which are usually hidden from the public eye.
While the Miss Dumaguete or similar “elite” contests attract all VIPs and local star-photographers, for us the smaller contests have a very special charm to it and the DINS-Team gladly covers those events. At this point one more big “Thank You” to the organizers of Barangay Uno to invite us. The Miss Tinago 2014 was a great event and we hope everybody enjoyed our pictures, like we enjoyed the contest.
