SSS Calamity Loan 2022 (Typhoon Odette Victims) Requirements

SSS Calamity Loan 2021 for Typhoon Odette Victims will be available from January 14, 2022, to April 13, 2022. The Super Typhoon Odette (internationally known as Typhoon Rai) his several parts of the Philippines last December 16, 2021. Most of these areas are in the Visayas and Mindanao. To further help the affected victims, Social Security System (SSS) is offering a Calamity Loan for 2022. Read below see the requirements and other details.

What are the Requirements?

  • Must be residents of an area declared under a state of calamity.
    Region VI, VII, VIII. X, XIII or IVB (MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga).
  • Must already be registered in the SSS website.
  • Have not been granted any final benefit, i.e. permanent total disability or retirement.
  • Must have at least 36 months contributions, 6 of which should be posted within the last 12 months prior to the month of application.
  • Must not have an outstanding Loan Restructuring or Calamity Loan.
  • If employed, employer must certify and approve their employee’s application thru their SSS online account.

SSS Calamity Loan 2022
(Loan Amount & Payment Terms)

The amount that can be availed is equivalent to 1 month salary credit. This will be computed based on the average of the last twelve-monthly salary and is rounded up to the nearest thousand or the amount applied for (whichever is lower). An annual interest rate of 10% will be added to the loan and is payable within two years in 24 monthly installments.

The Calamity Loan can be availed between January 14, 2022 – April 13, 2022. Registration and application will be done online though the SSS Website. Member-bower must access his/her My/SSS account.

SSS Circular 2021-020 reads:

“SS and EC pensioners who have availed advance pension for previous calamities and whose pensions are still suspended may avail of the three-month advance pension for typhoon ‘Odette,’ provided that the advance pension will not exceed three months at any time.”

“SS Retiree pensioners who have no existing loan under the Pension Loan Program (PLP) are qualified to apply for the three-month advance pension.”

The SSS will also extend to its members a maximum loanable amount of P1 million for the direct house repair and/or improvement loan, subject to repricing every five years. Home repairs will be slapped with interest rates of 8 percent per annum for loans below P450,000, and 9 percent per annum above P450,000.

Meanwhile, the Philippine national government is committed 2 billion pesos to help Visayas and Mindanao residents. President Duterte also committed another 10 million pesos for rehabilitation and recovery efforts in typhoon-affected areas.

    That is so nice of the govt. to loan your own money to you at such a generous rate. I wonder how much interest the govt. is paying for the millions in goods that have been DONATED from the rest of the world. Never fails to amaze me. GRR.
