Sinulog de Jimalalud 2017
When the attention of the media and the crowd are focused on Cebu and their Sinulog Festival, we went to the lovely municipality of Jimalalud where the Sinulog de Jimalalud 2017 was celebrated. It is the second year we celebrated the Festival there and the warmth and hearty welcome made us feel at home under friends.
We usually complain about the delays of this kind of events, however, this time everybody was ready at the assembly point at the announced time, eager to show the masses from all over Negros Oriental their performances. However, someone had a problem with the timely manner and opened the sky for heavy rainfalls. Therefore, the Street dancing of the Sinulog de Jimalalud 2017 could not start in time.
When the rain stopped, the dancers got ready again and started their performance in front of the enthusiastic crowd along the streets of the lovely town. The 11 contingents did an outstanding job dancing their way towards the municipality gym to where the showdown took place. The location was packed and a huge crowed watched the performer as they celebrated and honored Santo Niño.
As we already experienced last year, the Sinulog de Jimalalud Festival is a celebration where everybody is welcome and becomes part of the big family. Even before we headed back to Dumaguete it was already clear, that we will return to our friends in Jimalalud next year to celebrate with them next years festival.
