Henry Pryde Teves steps down as the governor of Negros Oriental after Supreme Court denies his temporary restraining order against gubernatorial rival Roel Ragay Degamo. He thanked his supporters and told them that he would step down to prevent further escalation of tensions between him and Degamo.

Henry Teves voluntarily steps down as Governor of Negros Oriental in the evening hours of October 11, 2022. He expressed disappointment that the high tribunal did not act on an application for a temporary restraining order to prevent the implementation of the Commission on Elections en banc ruling nullifying his election victory in favor of Degamo. Henry Teves, who won in the May 9 elections but whose election victory was overturned following the transfer of votes of nuisance candidate Ruel Degamo to Roel Degamo, had insisted on staying on at the capitol in the past days.
