Felipe Antonio Ipe Remollo will take over the position as Mayor of Dumaguete City. In a close race Ipe Remollo outnumbered incumbent Vice Mayor Woodrow Maquiling Sr. by 2,386 votes.

After toxic smoke was released from the dumpsite fire of Dumaguete, the Dumaguete City Council declared 5 Barangays under the state of calamity last Saturday, 16. April 2016. These 5 Barangays are Candau-ay, Cadawinonan, Balugo, Batuingel, and Camanjac.
