The First 100 Days of Dumaguete City Mayor
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo reported his accomplishments and plans during the first 100 days of his administration starting July 1 which were classified into five major categories, namely:
- peace and order and anti-drugs campaign – increased budget for additional closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs), mandatory drug tests for the city’s officials and employees, and issuance of citation tickets for traffic violators
- sports development – reclamation of a small portion of the boulevard for beach volleyball
- tourism and culture – conduct of tree health assessment along Quezon Park and Rizal Boulevard
- waste management – control of intermittent fires at dumpsite, rehabilitation of Candau-ay dumpsite to arrest air pollution and underground water contamination
- employment and investments – signed a memorandum of understanding with Changzhou Xintian Rail Transit Technology Co. Ltd, a Chinese firm, for a monorail transit system and met with Filinvest officials for plans for development of a property along Piapi Beach for a residential-commercial complex
- health and nutrition – additional appropriations for P2 million for medical assistance mainly for dengue patients, continued feeding program in 25 barangays, and cited nationwide as zero-rabies incidence.
Remollo added that he has plans to coordinate with Vice President Leni Robredo for relocation of informal settlers in two barangays in Canlindagan.
