Pope Francis visits the Philippines

Pope Francis is the first pontiff to visit the Philippines since 1995, when Pope John Paul II. visited the archipelago in January 1995. He presided over the World Youth Day 1995. His mass on the closing day was attended by over 4 Million people, the biggest crowed the pontiff ever faced during his reign.

On Jan. 15 (2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.), on Jan. 17 (7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.), and when the Holy Father departs on Jan. 19 (6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) are no departures and arrivals due to the security of the Holy Father. Some international airlines moved their flights to a later departure the same days.

However, serious delays and more flight cancellations can be expected during the five days of the papal visit as well as before and after due to several security measurements and dry runs which will take place.

Surely the airport is not the only affected place in Manila. The whole Metro region will be at a standstill. For everybody who does not want to participate in the celebrations during the visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines it is certainly the best to avoid Metro Manila during the stay of the Holy Father.
