Sinulog sa Tanjay Festival 2018 - Negros Oriental

The Sinulog sa Tanjay Festival 2018 was a grand celebration with 24 barangay groups competing in the street dancing and showdown of the festival. With great leadership by the City Mayor Reynaldo S. Concepcion, all the 24 barangays of Tanjay City are able to participate in the celebration of the Tanjay Fiesta 2018.

Sinulog sa Tanjay 2018 – Street Dancing

The Sinulog sa Tanjay Festival 2018 kicked off with the opening program of the City Mayor’s official opening declaration and a few speeches from honored guests such as Sen. Cynthia A. Villar. It was not until past 11 o’clock till the first barangay group hit the streets to perform. With 24 group of dancers and nearly lunchtime, not many people watched along the streets.

The first half of the dancing groups were blessed sunshine and a few clouds. After about an hour and a half since the opening the sky darkened and it started to pour hard. This did not stop the groups to perform. In fact, they even smiled brighter and danced more graceful than anyone expected.

Sinulog Festival 2018 in Tanjay – Showdown

There were 24 group of dancers, which means with the number of performers one group could eat lunch while the other performs at the showdown. The festival was a nonstop event. Each barangay was given 7 minutes to perform in the Sinulog sa Tanjay 2018 Showdown competition.

People of all ages gathered around the covered court of Tanjay City. Hundreds of locals and guests can be seen having a good time watching the traditions and culture Tanjay City has preserved.
