Limited Face-to-Face Classes this April in Negros Oriental

Limited face-to-face classes may start this April in the province of Negros Oriental. According to the Department of Education (DepEd), the city school’s division office is preparing to implement the said face-to-face classes next month. This is after adopting a blended learning modality since the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic began in 2020.

Face-to-Face Classes in Negros Oriental

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the education system in the Philippines has been finding ways to reach out to as many students as possible through module and online classes. According to Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, DepEd-7 (Central Visayas) regional director, city schools division superintendent Dr. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde will submit a list of the public and private schools that will start to hold in-school classes.

“Initially, it will start possibly next month in this capital city, and that will cover the fourth quarter of the school year,” he said in mixed English and Cebuano.

He added that elementary and high schools are ready for the implementation of limited face-to-face classes, according to Elejorde, noting that it will be on a “progressive expansion”.

On the other hand, the city government, through a council resolution, expressed its support to the proposed resumption of face-to-face classes, provided basic health and safety protocols will be observed. The province of Negros Oriental remains under Alert Level 2 community quarantine status until March 31, along with Cebu and Bohol. Only the province of Siquijor and the City of Cebu are now under Alert Level 1.

Silliman University Founder’s Day 2022 (Face-to-Face Celebration?)

One of the biggest university in the province, Silliman University, is already preparing for a face-to-face celebration of their 121st Founder’s Day this August 2022. In preparation for the said event, the SU Alumni and External Affairs office is calling out to the different alumni reunioning groups to join the following alumni activities namely: the Memorial Service for reunioning groups, Parada Sillimaniana alumni contingent, Sunrise Service and the Pamahaw Sillimaniana.
