Driver’s License now 5 Years Valid

Driver's License -Philippines

Driver’s license and conductor’s licenses issued starting November 2, 2016, will have a 5-year validity in compliance to Administrative Order No. 2016-34, issued last September 13, 2016.  This was announced by the Land Transportation Office – Region 7 (LTO-7), with its jurisdiction covering the Provinces of Cebu, Negros Oriental, Bohol and Siquijor.  Its IT system has also been adjusted to the 5-year validity with its corresponding fees and charges.

An advisory from the LTO said that the Medical Certificate and Application for Driver’s license (ADL) forms can be downloaded from its website (www.lto.gov.ph).  For plain renewal without changes in classification and personal information, there is no need for the ADL.  The Medical Certificate can be from any licensed physician as long as it is in the prescribed form.  Drug testing can also be performed by any DOH accredited drug testing center.  However, the regional office is still awaiting delivery of cards from the LTO Central Office.

Free seminars on Defensive Driving with its pertinent laws, rules and regulations are given every Saturday at the LTO offices.  For groups and government entities, who wish to have the seminar conducted on a weekday, they can request for a schedule provided that they will be responsible for the venue.  Corresponding Certificates of Attendance will be given to participants.
