Our Lady’s Garden in Sibulan

A visit to Mama Mary’s Statue and Monument

When it comes to the lush greeneries, a great ocean, and mountain view…look no further! The Mama Mary’s Garden in Sibulan is a place “Where the Mountain Meets the Sea” and where the big statue of Mother Mary overlooks the water of the Tañon straight and the island of Cebu with her protective spirits. On the other side, the majestic mountainous landscape of Negros Oriental can be seen.

Starting the Daytrip to Mama Mary’s Garden

We first visited Mother Mary’s Garden a few years back and decided to make another trip of visiting her again this year. It was a perfect weather at the perfect location for us to meditate and relax.

Visiting Our Lady’s Garden can be a great combination to any of your other day trips to Sibulan or Dumaguete City. A great day trip combination from Dumaguete City to the Sibulan Mama Mary’s Garden can start off with some sight-seeing around Dumaguete City. Just before lunchtime, make your way to Jo’s Chicken Inato in Sibulan where you can pay the entrance fee and have a lunch break before venturing forth.

Another great day trip combination is visiting the water paradise of Sea Forest Resort of Sibulan which is located less than 200 meters from Our Lady’s Garden. The Jo’s Chicken Inato in Sibulan is yet again a great place to fuel up either before or after the spiritual visit to Mother Mary’s Garden.

Getting to Mother Mary’s Garden in Sibulan

There are many ways in getting to this spiritual tourist attraction in Sibulan. In our case, we decided to take a public transportation called easy ride. A bus would also do. The ride took only about half an hour from Dumaguete City and will cost less than PHP 20.00 only. We told the driver and the conductor to drop us off at Sea Forest near Jo’s Inato since the garden attraction was right across the Jo’s Inato.

For travelers bringing their own transportation or renting a motorbike, just drive in the main highway of Dumaguete City to the north. After about 7 km you will see the Sibulan Market and plaza, follow the highway and drive straight. After a few more minutes you will be able to see the Sea Forest or Jo’s Chicken Inato at your right side.

The Mama Mary’s Garden in Sibulan is a great place especially for Roman Catholics who believes in the power and protection of Mother Mary. Believer or not, this attraction is open for all to meditate and unwind to. Being elevated a couple of meters from the main highway, a breath of fresh air can give an ultimate relaxing sensation to the day trip.

Entrance Fee

The entrance ticket is available at Jo’s By the Sea, located in front of Our Lady’s Garden, for only PHP 100.00 for adults and PHP 50.00 for children. Our Lady’s Garden in Sibulan opens every 8:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm. The premises are for viewing and meditating only; use of house and swimming pool are exclusive for the house owner only.

What to Bring?

We brought only a few things for our visit to Mama Mary. We brought with us a small bag with sunblock (in case it gets too hot), umbrella (in case it rains), bottle of water, wallets and of course our camera. You can wear anything you want when visiting the garden, also comfy clothes and shoes are highly recommended. We also brought a few snacks with us, but food are not allowed in the premises so we had to, unfortunately, eat them before entering.

When visiting this highly positive place, you can stay the whole day from eight in the morning till six in the evening. You can sit at the lush greeneries the whole day if you wish. Our Lady’s Garden in Sibulan is a great place to observe the beauty of nature and let the spiritual positivity sink in. The trip was so worth-while. We will surely be visiting Mama Mary again soon for another one-one session with nature.
