Valencia Rambones Festival 2025

The Rambones Festival 2025 of Valencia is finally back! This unique festival was first and last celebrated back in 2022 as a school event by San Pedro Academy. The term Rambones is derived from two fruits…rambutan and lansones. These are two of the most popular fruits in the municipality of Valencia. The DC-Team headed to Valencia and watched the brief street parade. Around 3 o’clock in the afternoon the program started.

The Rambones Festival is a vibrant cultural celebration held in Valencia, Negros Oriental, in the Philippines. First launched in 2012 by Father Sixto M. Bitangjol and organized by San Pedro Academy.

Rambones Festival 2025 – King and Queen

The name “Rambones” is a portmanteau of rambutan and lansones, two beloved tropical fruits grown in the region. These fruits are central to the identity of the festival—representing not only the agricultural richness of Valencia but also the creativity of its people.

A key feature of Rambones is its storytelling element: dramatised legend-telling through colourful street-dancing parades and showdowns. The story pits two tribes, the Tribu Rambutan and Tribu Lansones, as ancient rivals. Despite fierce antagonism, a forbidden love between a prince of one tribe and a princess of the other becomes the catalyst for reconciliation. Their tragic fates death of the prince during a rescue mission, followed by the princess’s own demise and illness ultimately lead both tribes to bury their past and unite.

Over the years, Rambones has featured a variety of events: a grand parade, showdown contests, king & queen pageants, dance competitions, and performances by local schools. Even when the full street‐dancing elements were paused (for instance in 2022), the spirit of culture, beauty, and community remains central.

Beyond the spectacle, the festival serves as a celebration of values—love, unity, and forgiveness and acts as a showcase of Valencia’s local talent, artistry, and agricultural bounty.

Aside from the rambutan and lansones festival, Valencia also celebrates the Puhag Festival. This other festival revolves around honey and bees. Read more about the Puhag Festival here.
