All residents of Dumaguete City are encouraged to register under the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys as provided in Republic Act 11055. This identification card is to establish valid proof of their identities and ensure efficient and responsive government service. It is also FREE!

What is a Philippine National ID?

The Philippine Identification System ID (PhilSys ID) or also known as the Philippine National ID, is a type of Government ID issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority. It was first issued as a pilot implementation back in the year 2019 in selected regions in the country. By the year 2020, it was set for full implantation with a 5-year implementation plan. This was made possible through Republic Act 11055, also known as the “Philippine Identification System Act”, signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on August 6, 2020.

The identification card is eligible for Philippine citizen who are at least 18 years old and for foreign permanent residents. The expiration is lifetime. As of the moment, there are no fees for getting the PhilSys ID.

Negros Oriental Provincial Statistical Specialist Engr. Ariel T. Fortuito said that the registration will start later this year and assured the public that all information gathered will be protected against unlawful access and disclosure under pain of imprisonment and huge fines.
