Miss Negros Oriental 2024
Buglasan Festival 2024
The search for Miss Negros Oriental 2024 was, like each year, one of the highlights of the Buglasan Festival. 21 candidates from the different cities and municipalities of Negros Oriental were eager to go “All-in” and competed for this prestigious title.
Miss Negros Oriental 2024 – Festival Costume
The Miss Negros Oriental 2024 pageant was split into multiple events. The first noteworthy event was held a few days before the coronation night and presented the candidates in wonderfully designed festival costumes. Each costume was designed to represent the culture and heritage of the municipality or city, the candidates represented.
Miss Negros Oriental 2024 – Talent Presentation
The talent portion of any beauty pageant is probably the most outdated part any beauty pageant. Times have changed a lot, and nowadays talents are more in the digital world, which is hard to present on a big stage. Playing an instrument is a thing from the past, and the majority of the candidates ended up with some karaoke-like singing or rolling dramatically around on the stage, which we were told is called “interpretative dancing.
While each of the candidate certainly did their best, in what their handler thought was the ideal performance, it is a safe bet to say, that none of the shown talents will make enough to pay their rent in the future. The talent-portion still offers some nice photo-opportunity, which we want to share with you.
Miss Negros Oriental 2024 Coronation Night
Without any doubt, the coronation night is an event, the DC-Team does not want to miss. On the day of the event, the organizers announced all over the social media, that the coronation night of Miss Negros Oriental 2024 will start 1 hour earlier. That had us cancelling our traditional team-dinner, we always have ahead of the coronation night since almost 2 decades. But as at any other event we attended at Buglasan Festival 2024, the organizers were simply not capable to live up to their words, and get things done in a timely manner, resulting in another long delay. When the house lights went finally out, it was past the original scheduled time.
Production Number
After some prayers and the national anthem, the tension was high, as the candidates entered the stage. After all critics above, some compliments. Compared to many events we visited this year, the sound- and light crew did a great job. The candidates had plenty of light from the front, so everybody could see their faces, expressions and details in the outfit. Recently even bigger events, like Miss Dumaguete or Sandurot Festival showdown, turned out to be a kind of shadow-dancing with dreadful light-design. “Well done” go the light crew.
Swimwear
The swimsuit round is, without any doubts, the most anticipated part of any beauty pageant. Miss Negros Oriental 2024 made no difference. When you look at our pictures, it is clear, that all of the lovely candidates look stunning in their swim attire.
A word to the MC. He was one of the best, we encountered since a long time. He kept up the speed, as much it was possible, skipped all not needed “gibberish” and was that kind of MC, one can only wish for. He put the candidates in the spotlight, not himself or any VIPs.
Evening Gown
After a rather long break, where all VIPs, were greeted and sponsors mentioned (no event is possible without them), it was time for the 21 ladies to present themselves in evening gowns. It was named as “Philippine Terno competition”.
The term “terno” actually refers to the matching of various components of Philippine dress, for example, a top and skirt made in the same fabric. Therefore, “terno” is technically used to describe an outfit on the whole. However, oftentimes, when people refer to the terno, they are now referring to the unique sleeve. Others may refer to the attire as Filipiniana Dress.
After four hours and one hour delay, it was finally time to announce the new Queen of Negros Oriental. Representing the municipality of Valencia and the new reigning Miss Negros Oriental 2024 is Misty Allen.
