What is the Kinaiyahan Festival?
Kinaiyahan, derived from the Cebuano word for “nature,” is a festival in Dauin that honors nature’s bounty, celebrating both land and marine resources. It was created to express gratitude for the environment’s gifts and to remind residents of the importance of environmental conservation after decades of resource degradation. The Kinaiyahan festival takes place every year in September, aligning with Dauin’s town fiesta honoring St. Nicholas of Tolentino on September 10.
