Camanjac Elementary School
Camanjac Elementary School in the northern part of the barangay is one of the older primary schools in Dumaguete City. Since 1938 it opens its gates for the children of Barangay Camanjac to teach them primary education, and equally important, guide them to become responsible, honest teenagers.
Brief History of Camanjac Elementary School
Camanjac Elementary School was established in June 08 1938. It is located at the Northeast Portion of Barangay Camanjac, Approximately three kilometers away from the city proper. It has a total land area of 8,003 square meters and was acquired through purchase by the city government of Dumaguete and was donated to Department of Education ( DepEd). The area indicated includes a part of the existing Dumaguete Camanjac Road and the bridge.
It is a flat land with creek named “Okoy” nearby. A fence was bulid around the school through the collaborative effort of the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) in order to insure pupil’s safety while in school.
Demographics of Camanjac Elementary School
Camanjac Elementary School was in the school year 2013/14 the educational center to 636 pupils. 22 teacher took care of the primary education of these pupils. They were organised in 16 classes divided in the six grades of the Philippine elementary school system. 2 additional non-teaching staff-members help to keep the daily business of the school flawless. The total land area of the school is just over 3,000 square meters.
Camanjac Elementary School Facilities
Alumni of Camanjac Elementary School have a strong connection to the school. Mrs. Ellen S. Diputado, Mrs. Petronila D. Orcullo, Rosalina D. Catarata, or Alfreda B. Vilam for example, were graduates of the school, just to return a few years later after finishing their studies to become teachers at the school.
