The Buglasan Festival 2025 once again painted the streets of Dumaguete City with vibrant colors, rhythmic beats, and heartfelt pride. Known as the “Festival of Festivals” in Negros Oriental, Buglasan is not just a celebration it is a living expression of the province’s unity, culture, and joyful spirit, that was celebrated on October 17, 2025. Being the biggest and grandest festival celebration in the province, the DC-Team made sure to get the best pictures of the street dancing and showdown. There were seven groups who performed in this year’s festival of festivals.
Buglasan 2025 – Street Dancing
The street dancing of the Buglasan Festival started around pass 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Hundreds of people watched at the side f the streets to witness the colorful parade of culture and traditions from all over Negros Oriental. festive costumes flooded the streets of Dumaguete City as the street dancing parade took place.
The Street Dancing Parade burst with life as contingents from different towns and cities of Negros Oriental proudly showcased their heritage through movement and music. Dancers in radiant costumes, inspired by local legends and agricultural abundance, gracefully swayed to the beat of the drums under the blazing sun. Each step, twirl, and smile reflected the strength and perseverance of every community.
The street dancing and festival showdown became the heart of this grand occasion, captivating both locals and visitors with dazzling performances and deep emotion.
Buglasan Festival 2025 – Showdown
The grandest festival in Negros Oriental was held at the Gov. Mariano F. Perdices Memorial Coliseum Stage or most known as Oval. The showdown event was said to start at 6:00 pm. The organizers did start the program a little bit later than 6:00 pm (that’s pretty early or on time for Filipinos).
This event transformed the evening into a spectacle of artistry and storytelling.Every performance was a masterpiece blending traditional folk steps with modern choreography, intricate props, and breathtaking formations. The dancers poured their hearts into each scene, telling stories of faith, harvest, love, and triumph. It was more than entertainment it was a soulful display of who they are as Negrosanons.
For this year’s showdown and street dancing competition, Has 10 Festivals participated. The Dalit Tayasanon Festival of Tayasan, the Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City, Yag Yag Festival of Sibulan, Sinulog sa Tanjay Festival of Tanjay City, Hugyaka sa Bais Festival of Bais City, Rambones Festival of Valencia, Langub Festival of Mabinay, Mantuod Festival of Manjuyod, Tawo – Tawo Festival of Bayawan City and Kapaw Festival of Basay.
Behind the bright costumes and lively music was a deeper sense of pride. Buglasan 2025 reminded everyone that culture lives on through passion and unity. The festival brought together people from different walks of life to celebrate shared roots and the enduring beauty of Negros Oriental’s traditions.
The energy was contagious, with the streets echoing laughter, cheers, and rhythmic chants of hometown pride.The spirit of Buglasan continued to shine in every heart. The festival was not just colorful and joyful it was emotional, proud, and unforgettable, a true celebration of Negros Oriental’s identity and As the night ended with Buglasan VIVA One Variety Show after the Buglasan Festival Showdown.
