Barangay Junob
Barangay Junob in Dumaguete is located on the way up to Valencia passing Hypermart. The Subdivisions of Silliman Heights and Sto. Rosario Heights are two of the landmarks of this barrio. The Barangay is home to around 7, 000 people. From this Barangay, one can access the educational facilities and shopping center in Dumaguete in just 10 minutes. Junob is bounded by barangay Bagacay, Talay, Banilad, Cadawinonan, Batinguel, and Cantil-e.
Brief History of Junob
The Visayan term “Junob” literally means always wet or moist. 33% barrio is located in such a place where the land is always wet or moist at all season of the year. For this reason, the barangay got the name since its beginnings.
Junob Elementary School and National High School
The Elementary School of Barangay Junob is actually located at the east part of Talay, the last barrio in the west of Dumaguete. It is under the umbrella of the Dumaguete City West District and was already established in 1925. At present around 600 pupils are learning from 17 Grade Teachers. The Junob National High School is attended by over 1.000 pupils.
