Barangay Looc

Dumaguete 2018 Barangay Looc Barangay Hall

Visitors who travel by ferry to Dumaguete arrive in Barangay Looc, where the port of Dumaguete is located. The port of Dumaguete is the main entry to the province of Negros Oriental. Looc is bounded in the north by the Barangay Piapi, in the south by Poblacion in the east by Tañon strait and in the west by Barangay Daro. Looc has a population of close to 5,000.

Brief history of Barangay Looc

The Visayan term literally means the sharp curve of the beach forming a bay. The term “Lo-oc” was adopted by the inhabitants from the time the barrio was organized. The place also was popular among the travelers by the sea as the bay offered a safe-seeking for water crafts, especially during the bad weather.
