The law is clear, the return ticket has to be within 30 days. First it is up to the airline, if they let you board an aircraft to fly to the Philippines or not. Secondly, it is up to the immigration officer in the Philippines, to let you enter the country if you don't have a onward ticket within 30 days. Please be aware, it has to be an onward ticket, NOT a return ticket. On option is, you buy a "throw away"-ticket. Plenty of cheap airlines in Asia to do so. HK Express offers flights from Clark to HK for P800 plus fees.

Germans enter the Philippines Visa-free. The entry stamp is NOT a visa and valid for 30 days. The 29 days thereafter are also NOT a visa, but a Visa-Waiver. It is wrongly called by many visa-extension, but could make a legal difference, if someone gets into trouble one way or another.

The regular way to extend your stay at the BOI satellite office in Dumaguete takes one week. Express extension can shorten the time to 24 hours (Express fee will be applied). If you apply in the last 7 days within your authorized stay (like after 25 days), you need to pay express automatically.

Hello from Germany!
Similar to the question above we like to stay in the Philippines for ex. 45 days but try to avoid to make a 59day-visa at home because it is a bit complicated and cannot book a flight before getting a visa but cannot get a visa without returnflight. So we like to arrive without a visa, instead we will take a visa on arrival (30 days) and apply for an extension (29 days) in Dumaguete or Cebu. Here’s my question: It is now possible to do this with an return-ticket without a date within the first 30 days?
And how many days need a visa-extension to be done in Dumaguete?

I did it twice in the past 2011 and 2012 without any problems but it needed fe. 3 or 4 days in Dumaguete because I got an ID-Card from Manila (there it needed only one day).

Thank you for your help.

The present (04/23) situation is indeed, that tourists need an outbound/onward tickets withing 30 days.
While we do know plenty of occasions, where long term tourists "get away" with a onward ticket somewhen the next few months, it is a risk, and tourists may get the entry denied.

Hello. Nice website and really helps. I have a question about onward ticket, like so many others. I will travel with a return ticket Bangkok - Cebu, the ticket is for a stay of 58 days. But I will arrive without a visum, instead I will take a visa on arrival (30 days) and apply for an extension (29 days) in Dumaguete. Here's my question: Do I need ANOTHER airticket than the ones I have? Because if what I read, is that I need a ticket to show onward travel within the first 30 days, since I have no visum to carry the total stay. Thank you for assisting me.

Wait with the visa waiver until next week, and it should be fine, we are not certain if it is 21 or 30 days before expiration.
The BoI will tell you with the 2nd extension, that you need to get the ACR-I card and will make all needed steps right there in the office.

Thank you, I am in my first week here in the Philippines and I would like to know if I can already extend my visa for the other 29 days or I have to wait until my 30 days are about to end? Also how do I apply for the ACR-I card?

The 6-month visa can be processed in Dumaguete.
However, as you are here on the "entry-stamp" for 30 days, the next will be a 29 days visa waiver. After that you can apply for 1, 2 or 6 month. You will also need to apply for an ACR-I card after the 59 days.

Hi,

My fiancé is from the US and he’s planning to stay here until April 20, 2023 and arriving on Feb 17, 2023.

Does he still need to book an outbound ticket that is valid only for 30-59 days? Or he be allowed to book file for an extension immediately upon arrival at the airport if he’ll show it?
