In reply to Michael James. The system has been changed so many times over the last 10 years. It would be impossible to say what will happen in the next 10 years. One thing you may consider is, that PhilHealth has nothing to do with a health insurance you find in Canada.

My son is 48 years old, married to a Pinay and in process of moving to Phils. as a permanent resident. He is on a disability pension. If he joins Phil Health and pays in for 137 months, turns 60 years of age does he have to continue payments after he turns 60? He is presently waiting for paper work from Phil. Embassy in Toronto, Ca.

There seems to be no hard and fast rule, but my last four hospital bills got approximately 20% discount.

im filipinaand my husband is a foreigner, Im already a member of philihealth and my dependant is my husband…. Now i want to clarify if it is true that my husband need to get his own philhealth? If thats true whY he need to get his own , in fact he is already my dependant! it is really confusing for me…

Nobody forces you to get PhilHealth. Just listen to the “experts” you hear things from and get a “normal” insurance for some 300$ a month, add a few 100$ if you are not under 30 and super healthy.
… and hope it are actually accepted in local hospitals.

It is the good thing nowadays: People have choices. 🙂

So Is PhilHealth an insurance? A “normal” insurance cover all cost – like if you brake your leg it maybe cost 10.000 peso to fix, but with incuranse you dont pay (just maybe some hundred). But what about this Philhealth? I heard you must pay anyway?? Or at least 50%? If so, that is not an insurance.
